Replace According to Schedule
Follow manufacturer recommendation: every 15,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
In dirty or humid environments, shorten interval to 10,000 miles.
Always Use New O-Ring Seal
Each genuine Mopar filter includes a new rubber O-ring — never reuse old seals.
Damaged or dry seals cause fuel leaks and air ingestion.
Drain Water Before Replacement
Open the manual water drain valve at the base of the filter.
Drain until only clean diesel flows out — dispose of water properly.
Inspect Mounting Bracket
Check for cracks, rust, or loose bolts on the frame-mounted bracket.
Secure mounting prevents vibration-related failure.
Install Hand-Tight Only
Tighten using hand torque: ¾ to 1 full turn after gasket contact.
Do not use wrench unless specified — over-tightening can crack housing or strip threads.
Prime the Fuel System
Use the manual fuel lift pump (hand primer) on the primary filter to purge air.
Prime until resistance increases and engine starts smoothly.
Use Clean Diesel Fuel
Poor-quality fuel clogs filters quickly — always refuel at reputable stations.
Avoid biodiesel blends above B5 unless approved.
Replace Both Filters Together
Primary: 68197867AA (frame-mounted)
Secondary: 68157291AA (in-engine bay)
The 6.7L Cummins uses a two-stage system:
Replace both simultaneously for complete protection.
Dispose of Used Filters Properly
Considered hazardous waste — recycle through certified centers.
Never incinerate or dump.
Storage Advice
Store upright in dry indoor environment.
Keep protective cap on terminal and O-ring until use.
