⚠️ WARNING: Work involves transmission oil pressure and electrical circuits. Ensure vehicle is parked securely and power is disconnected.
Park on level ground and apply parking brake.
Turn off ignition and disconnect battery negative terminal.
If possible, drain some transmission oil to reduce spillage during removal.
Find the old switch mounted on the transmission case, usually near the rear extension housing or side cover.
Clean the area around it to prevent dirt from entering.
Disconnect the electrical connector (typically 2-pin).
Use appropriate socket or wrench to unscrew the switch counterclockwise.
Remove carefully — allow residual oil to drip out.
Check the threaded hole for damage or debris.
Replace damaged threads using a helicoil kit if necessary.
Apply a new O-ring seal (do not reuse old one).
Screw the new switch in by hand first to avoid cross-threading.
Tighten to 15–25 N·m using torque wrench — do not overtighten!
Plug in the wiring harness firmly.
Reconnect battery.
Shift transmission into Reverse (engine off but key ON).
Verify:
Reverse lights turn on
Backup alarm sounds (if equipped)
Backup camera activates (on equipped models)
